Irish National Stud

For as long as I can remember, I have loved the Irish National Stud and Japanese Gardens. After my stay in in Killashee House Hotel, I took advantage of being up in Kildare , ignored the grey day and T and I went for a visit. It’s the best time of year to visit as they have fields of foals, very cute foals who want scratches and will follow you along the fence. The path ways are lined with beautiful blossom trees and the Japanese Garden’s were showing tell tale signs of Summer (given that we’re 5 weeks behind!)

I tried to take as many photos as I could but as T was a bit sick and wanted to be carried everywhere, I just had to trust my point and shoot ability.

This little foal followed us up and down the fence for rubs. T announced he was “ma friend, mum”

After some lunch, tea and cake and a poke in the gift shop we headed for the Japanese Gardens. The next time I do this, I will make sure my hands are free of everything! I’m so used to strolling around this garden, taking my time and this time I did not take into account that we would be going around it twice at Toddler speed!

If you ever have the chance to visit the Irish National Stud and the Japanese Gardens, I highly recommend it. €12.50 for adults and that includes entry to everything (under 5’s are free!). They do excellent tours (which I missed this time around as I was too busy lazying about on my four poster bed!) and the horse museum is brilliant (again, missed it as T was hungry).

I’m already looking forward to another visit and will bring someone else for extra help with T!
