A mass of beautiful clear crisp nights always leads me to think of this nursery rhyme
Star light, star bright, The first star I see tonight; I wish I may, I wish I might, Have the wish I wish tonight.
I always delve into the what ifs and wishes of my life on these nights. They are always the same few wishes with me.
We all crave materialistic things in life, believing and hoping they will make us happy. For me, although cliché, it is the simple things. I want to garden, ride and take pictures.
I have a large garden which I am going to start planning for fruits and vegetables this weekend, I have a beautiful mare who is at the right age for breaking and I got an amazing present of a DSLR from my father for Christmas. I couldn’t possibly ask for anymore could I? Well, like most people the list is endless – new kitchen, new car, more grazing for the ponies, more money, new wellies etc.
For the new year I am going to concentrate on what I do have and I am going to work with that. I am going to learn to design, dig and build from scratch and I’ll somehow have time to learn to knit too. I want my new year to be full of learning new skills, doing things I’ve never done before, no matter how small.
Now my daughter is one and I have spent the past year completely devoted to her, I am going to become the person I want to be, for her. When she is older I want to be someone for her. I want to be able to teach her what I have learned. I think that’s fair.
Let 2012 begin!
